The CPU Province of Arts and Sciences Student Council conducted an in-person pre-registration for the tryouts of all qualified CAS athletes on March 6-7, 2023.
Numerous students from the College of Arts and Sciences departments participated and pre-registered for the event, which spanned from 8 am to 5 pm at the CPU Half-moon drive. All aspiring Casimanwa athletes and sports enthusiasts were encouraged to take part since it served as a preparation for the upcoming Centralian Fest. Basketball, football, volleyball, and Frisbee were all available as team sports. Individual sports include badminton, aquathlon, and lawn tennis, while on e-sports, valorant, wildrift, and COD mobile were offered.
According to Ryan Dave Poral, one of the registrants “An event like this one offers a huge opportunity for us, it improves our confidence if we talk about emotional and mental benefits. Generally, we need to engage ourselves in sports as it gives us a better lifestyle and makes us a lot healthier and far from all of the diseases.”
He also voiced that being a person who is deeply inclined into sports makes one’s existence purposeful and determined, “Like for myself, I fell in love with different kinds of sports especially cycling. Frankly, it made me productive and drove me to do other stuff, so I also tried swimming and running. In fact, I joined a triathlon in Dumaguete last April and San Carlos in November.”
Sports allow us to cultivate our sense of leadership and provide us with the capacity to create purpose and construct our attributes. It enriches our vision and strengthens our social life.
Furthermore, Livi Lenzer Abarra, one of the E-sport registrants stated “For me, the benefits of the CAS E-sports is to know that CAS students also excel in electronic sports and not just academically.”
Apart from the university varsity players, any legitimate CPU-CAS students enrolled in the second semester are allowed to register. Additional activities include quizzes, debates, photographs, dances, and orations.
