CPU Packaging Engineering reveals its official logo for the year-round celebration of its 20th founding anniversary with the theme, “Packed with Memories, Sealed with Faith, One Legacy”.

Continuing its legacy as the first and only program of its kind in Southeast Asia, Central Philippine University’s Packaging Engineering (CPU-PKGE) officially launched the year-long celebration of its 20th founding anniversary on February 8, 2026, on the birthday of its founder and Father of Packaging Engineering in the Philippines, Dr. Lejo C. Braña.

Anchored on the theme “Packed with Memories, Sealed with Faith, One Legacy”, the program’s 20th year anniversary is a celebration that aims to honor the two-decade long community of PKGE founders, alumni, faculty, students, and partners; recognize the program’s institutional lineage; and renew its “hopeful commitment to the future”.

“Basically, with the 20th year celebration of the Packaging Engineering program, we want it to be more visible, we want to reach more audience, and even like invite, hopefully, more students who will enroll in the program”, expressed Engr. Bernie C. Cangrejo, PKGE Department Head, in an interview with The Centralian Link.

Moreover, Engr. Cangrejo revealed an important milestone achieved by the program just in time for its 20th year—in 2026, PKGE is officially included in the priority courses of the Department of Science and Technology Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) scholarship program.

Additionally, Engr. Cangrejo highlighted his great pride for the alumni of the program, sharing that a simple gathering among PKGE graduates through the years took place on February 8, and a grand alumni homecoming shall be anticipated within the year.

“(We want to) gather our alumni, and then show to the people, show to the world where are our alumni now, where they are working, and the achievements of the department as well…basically, that would be the purpose we are here, that we are growing, and that we have successful alumni”, Engr. Cangraje said.

Furthermore, when asked about the future of CPU PKGE, Engr. Cangrejo envisions for the program to expand globally where students from all over the world are welcome to enroll.

CPU’s PKGE is the pioneer bachelor’s degree program of its kind in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, and as of 2026, remains to be the only existing one in the country and region.
