To further strengthen research capability among its educators, the Central Philippine University (CPU) College of Nursing faculty participated in a two-day Seminar-Workshop on Research Proposal Writing held on February 9–10, 2026, at the Henry Luce III Library Conference Room 2.
The activity was organized by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Development and Extension (OVPRDE) in partnership with the University Research Center (URC), Review Continuing Education and Consultancy Center (RCECC), and the College of Nursing.
The seminar-workshop aimed to enhance the research competency of faculty members, particularly in strengthening the technical and ethical aspects of proposal preparation, compliance, and documentation. It also sought to help participants identify appropriate research tools and strategies in searching for related literature and studies, guide them in developing research proposals, discuss various approaches in conducting qualitative research, and present standards in research writing, editing, form, and style.
The first day opened with welcome remarks from Assoc. Prof. Melba C. Sale, Dean of the College of Nursing, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the CPU Alma Mater Song. Assoc. Prof. Joy Lacson, Level 4 Coordinator of the College of Nursing, led the opening prayer.
Commissioner Salex E. Aligbogha served as the first resource speaker, discussing the fundamentals of research proposal writing. This was followed by a session on tools and strategies for searching related literature and studies by Asst. Prof. Vince Palcullo, Archives, Special Collections, and Institutional Repository Librarian of CPU. Dr. Sarla F. Duller then delivered a lecture on qualitative research approaches. The day concluded with a closing prayer led by Assoc. Prof. Lacson.

Through this initiative, the University continues to reinforce its commitment to fostering a strong research culture among faculty members, particularly in the health sciences, ensuring that academic outputs remain responsive, ethical, and aligned with institutional and national research standards.
