On December 7, 2024, students from the Civic Welfare and Training Service (CWTS) program gathered for an insightful plenary session on the Introduction to Community-Based Management, spearheaded by the Central Philippine University – National Service Training Program (CPU-NSTP) at the Rose Memorial Auditorium.

The event began with an invocation, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the CPU Alma Mater song. Ma. Leen C. Gahum, RL delivered the opening remarks, followed by the introduction of the resource person, led by Mrs. Shirley Dario.

The lecture on “Introduction to Community-Based Management” was thoroughly delivered by Prof. Kareen Jay D. Lozada, Chairperson of the Social Work Department. In her keynote address, Prof. Lozada emphasized the need for a people-centered approach in community-based management and she also shared her experiences that underscored the importance of building trust within communities.

Following the enriching lecture, expressions of gratitude from the CPU NSTP team closed the session. Mrs. Ma. Leen C. Gahum and Ms. Charissa June G. Deocampo gave a certificate of appreciation and token of gratitude to the resource speaker. The plenary session was emceed by Mrs. Emcy Sanchez.

The CPU-NSTP continues to organize this kind of activities in order to instill civic consciousness, volunteerism, and leadership among students, hence in positive contributions to society.
