On November 16, 2024, students from the Civic Welfare and Training Service (CWTS) program gathered for an insightful plenary session on the theme “Dimensions of Development – FIRST AID” conducted by the Central Philippine University – National Service Training Program (CPU-NSTP).

The session was held at the Rose Memorial Auditorium and focused on raising awareness about the importance of basic first aid knowledge to give students practical skills that could save lives in emergencies, home, at school, or even in their communities.

The event started with an invocation led by Mrs. Myla C. Cañas, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the CPU Alma Mater song. Ms. Pamela S. Lactupo formally presented the resource speaker to be spearheading the plenary session.

The lecture on “Dimensions of Development – FIRST AID” was thoroughly delivered by Jose Miguel P. Peña, RN, a skilled and knowledgeable nursing professional with a passion for health education. His presentation, titled “CASAlam: Empowering Students to Save Lives Through Learning Basic First Aid Skills,” focused on equipping attendees with essential knowledge and skills to respond effectively to emergency situations.

After the enriching lecture, the session ended with expression of gratitude by the CPU NSTP team. CPU-NSTP Coordinator Prof. Annalie D. Gilongos, RN, MN, and CPU-NSTP-CWTS Coordinator Ma. Leen C. Gahum, RL, gave certificate of appreciation and a token of gratitude to the distinguished resource speaker, Jose Miguel P. Peña, RN. The plenary session was seamlessly emceed by Chilou P. Batoon, RL.

The CPU-NSTP remains at the forefront in organizing activities of this nature which are crucial in equipping students with skills to respond positively and responsibly in times of crises.
