On March 1, 2025, the Central Philippine University – National Service Training Program (CPU-NSTP) held a plenary session focused on “Community Service” gathering students from the Civic Welfare and Training Service (CWTS) program. Held at the Rose Memorial Auditorium, the lecture aimed to inspire students to actively participate in community development initiatives, fostering a sense of civic responsibility.
The event began with an invocation led by Ms. Anya Mae Malumog, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the CPU Alma Mater song. Afterward, Ms. Charissa June G. Deocampo introduced the resource person.
The lecture on “Community Service” was thoroughly delivered by Prof. Kareen Jay D. Lozada, Chairperson of the Social Work Department. In her message, Prof. Lozada highlighted the vital role that students play in shaping the future through active involvement in community development. She also emphasized the importance of active participation in community service to develop essential life skills like empathy, leadership, and teamwork. It is worth noting that Prof. Lozada also served as the resource speaker for the plenary on Introduction to Community-Based Management, which was held on December 7, 2024.
