On January 17, 2026, Central Philippine University’s National Service Training Program (CPU-NSTP) held two lectures at the Rose Memorial Auditorium, entitled “Review of Community Dynamics” and “DigiTalino.”
The activity opened with an invocation led by Mrs. Hannah Lee S. Canlas, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the CPU Alma Mater song. Mrs. Rushelle Joy G. Celerian and Mrs. Myla Cañas introduced the resource persons.
The first lecture, “Review of Community Dynamics,” was delivered by Prof. Chloe Dawn G. Lagarto, faculty member of the Social Work Department under the CPU-College of Arts and Sciences. Prof. Lagarto described the community as a shared environment where people live, work, and play, emphasizing that it is shaped by social relationships, common needs, and collective responsibilities. She explained that understanding these interactions is essential in identifying community strengths and addressing challenges through participatory and sustainable initiatives.

The second lecture, “DigiTalino,” was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Ana Mae B. Cantel, faculty member of the CPU-College of Computer Studies. Assoc. Prof. Cantel highlighted the challenges faced by journalists and fact checkers in the Philippines, noting that they continue to face attacks in the digital space. She also cited data showing that Filipinos spend almost half of the year online, or approximately 166 days annually, underscoring the need for digital literacy, critical thinking, and responsible online behavior.
An open forum followed the lectures, allowing participants to raise questions and seek clarification on the topics discussed.
The program concluded with the awarding of Certificates of Appreciation and tokens to the resource persons, led by CPU NSTP Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Annalie D. Gilongos, together with CPU NSTP-CWTS Coordinator Ma. Leen C. Gahum. Announcements and the closing prayer were delivered by Ms. Anya Mae Malumog. The activity was facilitated by the Master of Ceremony, Ms. Chilou P. Batoon.
