On February 14, 2026, the Central Philippine University National Service Training Program (CPU-NSTP) conducted a plenary session on the Introduction to the Organization and Mobilization of the National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC).
The program began with a short devotional led by Mrs. Emcy J. Sanchez and an invocation by Ms. Daniela P. Wechsler, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the CPU Alma Mater Song. Mrs. Ma. Leen C. Gahum then delivered the opening remarks, welcoming the participants and highlighting the importance of understanding the role of the NSRC in nation-building. Ms. Lexyl Joy Forteza introduced the resource person.
The lecture was delivered by Atty. Sedfrey I. Cabaluna, Iloilo City Councilor. In his talk, he shared valuable insights into the legal basis, structure, and functions of the National Service Reserve Corps. He discussed the vital role of students who may be mobilized during emergencies, disasters, and other civic concerns. Moreover, he emphasized the importance of volunteerism, civic responsibility, and active citizenship among the youth, encouraging students to actively participate in community development initiatives and uphold their commitment to public service.
An open forum followed, allowing participants to raise questions and seek clarification on the topics discussed.
The program concluded with the presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation and a token to the resource person, led by CPU NSTP Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Annalie D. Gilongos, together with CPU NSTP–CWTS Coordinator Ma. Leen C. Gahum. The closing prayer was delivered by Ms. Krisha J. Gallero. The program was hosted by Ms. Charissa June G.
