The event gathered students from both the Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS) and Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) programs.
The program began with a community singing led by students from Stub Codes 230 and 242, followed by a short devotional led by Ms. Chilou P. Batoon, and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the CPU Alma Mater Song. Mrs. Ma. Leen C. Gahum, CPU-CWTS Coordinator, delivered the opening remarks, and 2LT Artemio I. Romingquit (RET), CPU-ROTC Coordinator, introduced the resource persons.
The lecture on Introduction to Disaster Risk Reduction and Management was presented by Luben V. Villariono, Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Officer I, and Regin A. During the discussion, the speakers highlighted the importance of disaster preparedness at the community level, types of natural and man-made hazards, and effective strategies for risk reduction. They also emphasized the roles of students in promoting disaster awareness and building community resilience through proactive planning and participation in local DRRM initiatives.
Students actively participated in the open forum, asking questions and sharing insights about disaster response strategies. Certificates of appreciation and tokens were awarded to the speakers by Prof. Annalie D. Gilongos, 2LT Artemio I. Romingquit (RET), Maj. Shem L. Catipunan, and Mrs. Ma. Leen C. Gahum. The session concluded with announcements and a closing prayer led by Mrs. Myla C. Cañas, while Ms. Charissa June G. Deocampo served as the emcee for the program.
