On March 15, 2025, the Central Philippine University – National Service Training Program (CPU-NSTP) held a plenary session focused on “Introduction to Organization and Mobilization of National Service Reserve Corps” gathering students from the Civic Welfare and Training Service (CWTS) program. Held at the Rose Memorial Auditorium, the lecture aimed at educating participants on the critical role of the National Service Reserve Corps (NSRC) in disaster preparedness, national defense, and community service.
The event began with an energizer invocation led by Mrs. Leonance E. Cataluña, which was followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and CPU Alma Mater song. Mrs. Ma. Leen C. Gahum, RL, delivered the opening remarks. Afterward, Mrs. Hannah Lee S. Canlas, formally introduced the esteemed resource speaker for the plenary session.
The lecture on “Introduction to Organization and Mobilization of National Service Reserve Corps” was thoroughly delivered by Atty. Sedfrey L. Cabaluna, Iloilo City Councilor. In his message, Atty. Cabaluna emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government, educational institutions, and the youth in ensuring the success of the NSRC. He also encouraged the attendees to actively promote the significance of volunteerism, particularly in the areas of national defense, disaster management, and community service.
Following the informative lecture, CPU-NSTP Coordinator Prof. Annalie D. Gilongos, RN, MN, along with CPU NSTP-CWTS Coordinator Ma. Leen C. Gahum, RL, led the presentation of a certificate and token of appreciation to Atty. Sedfrey L. Cabaluna for his valuable contribution in making the plenary session a success.
The CPU-NSTP remains at the forefront of organizing initiatives like this, playing a key role in developing responsible citizens and furthering efforts to create a safer and more resilient society.
