Central Philippine University Henry Luce III Library librarians Asst.Prof.. Vince Ervin V. Palcullo, RL, MAIS, Archives, Special Collection, and Bahandian Institutional Repository Librarian and Ms. Via Marie F. Dumenden, RL, Serials and Filipiniana Librarian, took part in international engagements where they served as resource speakers and accreditors in Yangon, Myanmar this October 2025.
In recognition of CPU’s growing leadership and development in digital preservation and theological education support, their participation was made upon the invitation of the Association for Theological Education in Southeast Asia (ATESEA), led by Dr. Limuel Equiña, ATESEA Director.
From October 23-24, 2025, Asst.Prof. Palcullo and Ms. Dumenden conducted a Training on Digital Preservation at the Myanmar Institute of Theology. The two-day session introduced essential strategies and practical applications in digitization processes, managing institutional repositories, and strengthening long-term accessibility of academic collections. Participants included librarians, library staff, and IT support from various theological institutions.
Following the training, CPU Librarians, along with the other team members, served as accreditors for several seminaries in Yangon from October 27-30, 2025. Working under ATESEA’s accreditation standards, they evaluated library services, collections, staffing, facilities, and information literacy programs. Their assessments contribute to maintaining quality standards of theological education and ensuring that institutions meet the academic and resource requirements set by the ATESEA.
Asst.Prof. Palcullo and Ms. Dumenden’s participation in Myanmar underscores the role of collaboration and knowledge sharing in supporting ATESEA’s ongoing efforts to enhance library services, promote academic quality, and strengthen theological education across Southeast Asia.
