CPU Librarian Assistant Professor Vince Ervin V. Palcullo serves as a resource speaker during the 9th National Archives Congress on October 20–23, 2025, at the Grand Xing Hotel, Iloilo City, presenting on digital archiving tools and preservation.
Assistant Professor Vince Ervin V. Palcullo, Archives, Special Collections, and Institutional Repository Librarian of Central Philippine University (CPU), was invited as one of the resource speakers during the 9th National Archives Congress (NAC) held on October 20–23, 2025, at the Grand Xing Hotel, Iloilo City.
The four-day congress, organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts–National Committee on Archives (NCCA–NCA) in partnership with West Visayas State University (WVSU), carried the theme “Capacity Building on Digital Archiving and Preservation for Archives and Cultural Institutions.” It gathered archivists, librarians, records managers, and cultural heritage professionals from across the country to enhance their knowledge and competencies in digital preservation and records management.
Palcullo delivered a lecture and workshop on “Introduction to Digital Archiving Tools and Software.” His presentation focused on the key stages of digitization, including scanning workflows, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) processes, and the creation and application of metadata for organizing and preserving digital records. He also conducted a live demonstration, providing participants with practical insights into the use of digital archiving tools and systems.
Through this engagement, CPU continues to demonstrate its commitment to professional excellence, digital innovation, and the preservation of documentary heritage. The participation of Assistant Professor Palcullo reflects the University’s active role in promoting advanced archival practices and supporting the development of cultural institutions nationwide.
