The CPU Junior Social Workers Association (JSWA) celebrated a significant event of gratitude and recognition with their “PASASALAMAT: Token Turnover to the Social Work Department and Work Students” on May 21, 2024. This heartfelt gesture aimed to honor the unwavering support of the Social Work Department and the commendable efforts of work students Vel and Gen.
According to Amabelle De Los Santos, JSWA President, the token of gratitude went beyond simple words. JSWA members presented framed photos from their recent “Ka-Social Work Photoshoot” to the department. These photos, Ms. De Los Santos explained, embodied the spirit of camaraderie and shared purpose that defines the Social Work program at CPU. The inscription “Working with, and for the people” served as a constant reminder of the program’s core values of service and community advocacy.
Gen and Lav, the department’s work students, received special tokens of appreciation during the ceremony. Ms. De Los Santos highlighted their exemplary work ethic, dedication to their studies, and positive impact on the entire department. Their willingness to go the extra mile and their genuine care for others were specifically commended. Ms. De Los Santos emphasized that the tokens were a way to acknowledge the significant role Gen and Lav played in the Social Work family at CPU.
The JSWA leadership believes that the “PASASALAMAT” event is more than just a one-time gesture. Their hope is to establish an ongoing tradition of recognizing and appreciating the contributions of faculty, staff, and student workers within the Social Work Department. This culture of gratitude, they believe, will foster a more supportive and collaborative environment where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute.
The JSWA plans to continue the “PASASALAMAT” token turnover as an annual tradition. Furthermore, they aim to develop future initiatives and events that align with their core values of service, excellence, and humanity. By embedding these principles into their work, the JSWA hopes to create a lasting legacy of appreciation within the CPU Social Work community.
