CPU JPIA holds “Junior Tinakdakila,” fostering professional camaraderie among first- to fourth-year JPIA students through healthy competition.
The Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (JPIA) – CPU Chapter of the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) successfully held “Junior Tinakdakila”, an academic quiz bee competition, on February 27, 2026, at the CPU New Valentine Audio-Visual Room (AVR). The event served as a platform for healthy competition and professional camaraderie among JPIA students from first-year to fourth-year levels.
Junior Tinakdakila was structured into two distinct competitive phases, each designed to challenge the students’ competencies and knowledge. A defining feature of the competition was its cross-sectional team format, which required the formation of diverse groups composed of four members, each from a different year level. This setup promoted inclusivity, peer-to-peer mentorship, and ensured a balanced distribution of academic experience and specialized knowledge. Within the thematic framework of “The Prophecy Unfolds: Clash of the Olympian Houses,” these teams acted as collective representatives of their respective “Houses,” reinforcing departmental unity and pride.
The first phase, Junior Tinakdakila Cup 1, immersed participants in interdisciplinary knowledge, testing their proficiency in General Information, Mathematics, Pop Culture, and Philippine History. This phase highlighted the versatility and intellectual agility expected of future professionals in the field.
The second phase, Junior Tinakdakila Cup 2, transitioned from general knowledge to specialized accounting disciplines, elevating the technical stakes of the competition. Contestants were tasked with demonstrating mastery of core accounting principles, specifically focusing on Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR) 1 and 2, as well as Cost Accounting. This segment tested participants’ analytical skills and their ability to apply theoretical concepts to complex financial scenarios.
The success of the academic meet was made possible through the meticulous planning of the JPIA officers, in collaboration with corporate partners and sponsors, including VSA IRS, Memorè, and Everbilena. By integrating rigorous academic challenges within the vibrant “Clash of Houses” framework, JPIA continues to uphold its commitment to developing well-rounded and technically proficient future accountants.
