The seminar-workshop on “Research Audit for Research Management and Editorial Board Performance,” which was held at Hotel Salcedo de Vigan, Ilocos Sur, on June 25–27, 2025, brought together research administrators, journal editors, and research staff from a number of institutions in an effort to enhance editorial practices and strengthen research quality assurance.
The three-day seminar was attended by Ms. Ligaya Villarias-Caniel, Managing Editor of Central Philippine University’s (CPU) Multidisciplinary Research Journal.
Significant topics such as the development of audit tools for institutional research performance evaluation, the principles and procedures of research audits, and methods for evaluating the efficacy and efficiency of editorial boards in scholarly publishing were all discussed in the seminar-workshop. The objective of the workshops was to give participants the tools and frameworks they needed to carry out methodical study audits and apply evidence-based enhancements to the publication and research management procedures.
An expert speaker provided concepts on upholding research ethics standards, integrating institutional procedures with worldwide publication standards, and developing an excellence and accountability culture. Additionally, participants participated in practical workshops where they created audit tools and action plans designed to meet the particular requirements of their own organizations.
Ms. Caniel highlighted the workshop’s importance, pointing out that the skills and information she gained will greatly improve the CPU Multidisciplinary Research Journal’s editorial operations and enhance both the quality and integrity of research at CPU.
The chance to network with peers from various universities and learn from an experienced resource person was appreciated by the participants. At the end of the seminar-workshop, participants reaffirmed their determination to improve editorial procedures and conduct efficient research audits in their respective organizations.
