Stepping Into the Future: Graduating Centralians attentively engage in the POWER Session, gaining essential career insights to prepare for their professional journey.
Central Philippine University (CPU) is once again setting the stage for success as it conducted the Pre-employment Orientation for Workforce Entrants’ Readiness (POWER) Session for the 2nd Semester of S.Y. 2024-2025. Aimed at sharpening the competitive edge of graduating Centralians, the event was spearheaded by the Job Placement Office and the POWER Session Committee with the CPU Alumni Association Inc. (CPU-AAI) and the University Church, as partners and sponsors.
The first batch of POWER attendees, comprising of students from various disciplines, including those preparing for board examinations, gathered on March 7, 2025, for an intensive career-prep experience. Seasoned industry expert took the stage to share insider tips on crafting standout résumés and acing job interviews, giving students a head-start in securing employment.
Empowering Future Professionals: From right to left, Mr. Amiel Genova (Senior Communications Analyst, SSS), Ms. Heydee Zereso (PESO-Iloilo City Representative), and Ms. Mary Grace Dorilag (Registration Officer IV, PSA) lead a special forum on securing essential government documents for first-time job seekers during the POWER Session at CPU.
Beyond job-hunting essentials, representatives from the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) guided students through the steps of applying for their licensure examinations, ensuring a seamless transition from student life to professional practice. For those eyeing careers abroad, the Department of Migrant Workers offered valuable insights and support.
In line with the First-Time Jobseekers Act, key government agencies such as the Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), and Public Employment Service Office (PESO) – Iloilo City held a special forum on obtaining crucial government documents free of charge, a game-changer for young professionals entering the workforce.
Expanding career horizons, a representative from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) engaged with students, presenting exciting opportunities for those drawn to a life of service and leadership in national defense.
The collaborative efforts of CPU’s Job Placement Office, the POWER Session Committee, and esteemed partner organizations reflect the university’s unwavering commitment to molding globally competitive graduates. Armed with newfound skills, knowledge, and connections, these soon-to-be professionals are now one step closer to thriving in the real world—ready to conquer the job market and make their mark beyond the Pillars of Central Philippine University!
The second batch is scheduled on April 2, 2025, where students from the colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business and Accountancy and Hospitality Management will be the target audience for the said session.
