Rev. Francis Neil G. Jalando-on shared some Biblical Principles in relation to work to the graduating students.

A Pre-employment Orientation for Workforce Entrant’s Readiness (P.O.W.E.R.) for Second Semester, School Year 2022-2023 was held at the Rose Memorial Auditorium on March 22, 2023. According to the CPU Job Placement Office, this was the 2nd session held face to face –two years after the pandemic.

A big crowd of around 1,200 graduating students were served this time. The first semester catered only around 150 graduating students. Cluster 1 – students from the Colleges of Agriculture, Resources, and Environmental Sciences, Arts and Sciences, Business and Accountancy, Computer Studies, and Hospitality Management attended the 2nd career session. The event was facilitated by Ms. Rouella Cheyenne C. Aberia, Chair, Pre-Employment Training Committee Placement Officer and PESO Manager.

Dr. Raquel L. Polec-eo, Director, Guidance Services Center, led the opening prayer, which was followed by the singing of the Lupang Hinirang and Alma Mater Song. Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate, Vice President for Student Affairs, gave her opening remarks.

The big event was sponsored by the CPU Alumni Association, Inc. and the University Church. Rev. Cris Amorsolo V. Sian, University Chaplain, challenged the graduating students by sharing to them “The Story of Babel.” CPU Alumni Association, Inc. President Atty. Jeremy V. Bionat made a presentation for the students.

Rev. Francis Neil G. Jalando-on, CPUAAI Vice President and Director, Office of Communications, delivered a message on the topic, “The Central Spirit: What it means to be a Centralian in the Workplace.”

The afternoon session started with a presentation by the Job Placement Office. The Application Letter, the Resume” and “Acting the Interview” was discussed by Ms. Blessed Bea T. Plondaya, General Manager, in a lecture.

The Job Placement Office also invited speakers from PESO Iloilo and Regional Labor and Employment Office. Mr. Danny D. Espinosa from the Regional Labor and Employment Office spoke on “Work Ethics for the millennial worker, “Protecting Yourself against Sexual Harassment in the workplace.” The last speaker in the afternoon session was Gabriel Felix Umadhay, Iloilo PESO Manager, who delivered his knowledge and expertise on “The First Time Jobseeker’s Act.”

Present during the event were the CPU Red Cross Youth and students of CHM. The event was hosted by Mr. Sam David Q. Andrada. The 2nd Semester’s POWER Session was divided into two clusters. Cluster 2 will be held on April 26, 2023.
