CPU hosts FAFQI, IAVAI, and PAFI Scholarship Awarding Ceremony

On January 23, 2026, Central Philippine University (CPU) hosted the Filipino-Australian Foundation of Queensland, Inc. (FAFQI), Ilonggo Association of Victoria, Australia, Inc. (IAVAI), and Philippine-Australian Foundation, Inc. (PAFI) Victoria Scholarship Awarding Ceremony, organized by the Student Development and Programs and led by Pastor Alfred C. Morales, Director, at the Educational Media Center (EMC) Conference Room.
The ceremony opened with the singing of the Philippine and Australian national anthems and the Alma Mater Song, followed by an invocation led by Pastor Neva Grace L. Fabila, Associate Pastor for Campus Ministry. Welcome remarks were delivered by CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, who expressed heartfelt gratitude for the generosity of the donors and partners, noting that their support continues to transform the lives of CPU work students.
Messages were then shared by Mr. Melvin Espiga of PAFI Victoria, Mr. Mauro Somodio of FAFQI, and Mr. Ivan Monte of Big Leap Global, who drew from their personal experiences as former work students of CPU, underscoring how the university’s support enabled them to complete their education despite financial challenges. They said the scholarship program is a meaningful way of giving back and sustaining CPU’s long-standing commitment to helping students pursue higher education and build better futures.

Certificates of recognition were awarded to donor organizations and individual contributors for their continued support of CPU scholarship programs. The awarding was led by Rev. Dr. Dagohoy, assisted with Pastor Alfred C. Morales, Director of Student Development and Programs, and Asst. Prof. Johanna Faith M. Candido, Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs.
Meanwhile, scholarship certificates were presented to student recipients supported by FAFQI, IAVAI, PAFI Victoria, and other donors. The awarding was assisted by Assoc. Prof. Annalie D. Gilongos, Coordinator of the Working Student Scholarship Program (WSSP); Pastor Morales; Asst. Prof. Candido; Dr. Cecile Gonzales Dagohoy; and the donors who were present at the event.
The ceremony concluded with closing remarks by Pastor Morales and a closing prayer by Pastor Fabila.
