On August 15, 2025, Central Philippine University’s newly hired faculty and staff attended a mandatory Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) training at the Educational Media Center, led by Prim C. Vergara III, CPU’s Occupational Safety and Health Officer.
The event began with an opening prayer led by Rev. Karel Grace D. Victoria. Afterward, Engr. Dany Molina, Vice President for Administration, delivered his opening remarks, welcoming the newly hired faculty and staff to the Centralian community and emphasizing the importance of workplace safety.

In the morning session, participants were given an in-depth discussion on Republic Act No. 11058, also known as the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Law, and the Department Order No. 252-25, Series of 2025, the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations of RA 11058. The session emphasized the strengthening of occupational safety and health standards in the Philippines and the importance of compliance within academic institutions and workplaces.
In the afternoon, the participants engaged in a group activity on Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Control (HIRAC). This interactive exercise allowed new faculty and staff to apply what they had learned by identifying potential workplace hazards, assessing risks, and formulating appropriate control measures.
The event reaffirmed CPU’s commitment to safeguarding the welfare of the community while upholding a culture of safety and responsibility within the University.
