Key stakeholders lead the ceremonial shoveling of soil for the Law and Medicine Building during the groundbreaking rites at the CPU Softball Field.
Central Philippine University (CPU) held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Law and Medicine Building at the university’s softball field, with members of the Board of Trustees, administrators, deans, unit heads, alumni, CPUAAI, and CPUR representatives, faculty, and staff in attendance.
The program opened with a primer of the event, and a Prayer of Adoration led by Pastor Neva Grace L. Fabila, followed by the singing of the Alma Mater song. Dr. Matt P. Palabrica, Chairperson of the CPU Board of Trustees, delivered the Statement of Purpose and Words of Welcome. A Call to Praise from Ezra 3:10-11 and the Hymn of Gratitude, “Now Thank We All Our God,” highlighted the liturgical segment.

The ceremonial groundbreaking rites were performed by CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, joined by Vice President for Administration Engr. Dany C. Molina, Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate, Vice President for Finance and Enterprise Dr. Florence P. Bogacia, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Merle L. Junsay, Acting Vice President for Research, Development & Extension Dr. Aries Roda D. Romallosa, and other key officials including Dr. Palabrica, Engr. Eddie P. Cañuto, Architect Ralph Hisancha, Chairperson of the Resource Generation Committee Atty. Doriedel G. Lozañes, Dean of the College of Medicine Dr. Henry D. Gonzales, and College of Assistant Dean Atty. Liza Lyn Lamason-Garcia.
The ceremony then continued with a dedicatory prayer led by University Church Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Cris Amorsolo V. Sian, an Affirmation of God’s Faithfulness by Rev. Dr. Dagohoy, Words of Affirmation by Atty. Lozañes, the closing song “We Can Build Again” by Engr. Rodney Gicana (BS Electrical Engineering, 1990), and a closing prayer by Rev. Dr. Sian.
The event marked a milestone in CPU’s ongoing efforts to expand its academic facilities and strengthen education in law and medicine.
