On May 2, 2023, the annual evaluation and exhibit of recognized student campus organizations took place at CPU, with the theme “Becoming Globally Relevant: CPU Orgs Living through EXCEL!”
This year’s event featured the participation of 57 organizations out of the 65 recognized organizations, which are categorized as follows: 37 Academic organizations, 7 Religious organizations, 12 Special organizations, 3 Culture and Arts organizations, 1 Sports organization, and 5 Fraternity organizations. The purpose of the activity was to evaluate the achievements and developments of each organization, as well as to fulfill the requirements for recognition and membership renewal. The evaluation process involved assessing their university involvement, self-evaluation, and portfolios.
The winners of the event were as follows: The Young Entrepreneurs Society (YES-CPU) was awarded the Most Outstanding Campus Organization, receiving a presidential cash incentive.
In the Most Outstanding Student Organization category, the winners per category were: Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (Academic), Campus Bible Fellowship (Religious), Young Entrepreneurs Society (Special), CPU Teatro Sining Atbp (Culture and Arts), Golden Lions Esports Organization (Sports), and Alpha Phi Omega – Zeta Omicron Chapter (Fraternity). Cash incentives were awarded to the winners in each category. Special awards were also given, with the winners for Best Poster being Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, CPU Pastors’ Kids Student Organization, and Koalisasyon ng Demokratikong Mag-aaral para sa Sambayanan.
The winners for Best Self-Evaluation/Interview were CPU Biological Society, Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers, and Association of Chemistry Students. The winners for Best Essay Writing were Council of Hotel and Restaurant and Tourism Student (CHARTS), CPU Teatro Sining Atbp, and Work Student Organization. The top 3 organizations in each special award category also received cash incentives.
Mau Rebanio, President of the English Language Society, shared her impression of the activity, saying, “It was a fun experience because we had the opportunity to interact with members from other organizations who have been our friends for quite some time now. The exhibits presented by other organizations were fascinating. It was also nice to introduce English Language and Studies (ELS) to Junior High and Senior High students taking up HUMMS who dropped by.”
The event was spearheaded by Ma’am Margen Java, Ed.D., the Director of Student and Development Program.
