The CPU Faculty and Staff gathered at the CPU Golden Lions Gym for the annual Christmas party.

As the Christmas season unfolds, the vibrant gathering of the Central Philippine University (CPU) Faculty and Staff took place on Friday, December 7, at the CPU Gymnasium. The event was infused with the theme, “Kalipay sa Panimalay sa Sini nga Paskua” (Joy in the Family at this time of Christmas).

The employees embraced the festive spirit with enthusiasm, donning T-shirts adorned with the colors and names of their respective departments, thanks to the thoughtful arrangements made by the Directors.

The program seamlessly integrated the theme, incorporating the Ilonggo language in songs, prayers, and speeches to create a culturally resonant experience.

The atmosphere resonated with joyful melodies, led by CAO coordinator Ms. Crista S. Huyong, who captivated everyone with a spirited rendition of the popular song “Kumukutikutitap.” The timeless Christmas anthem, “Joy to the World,” was also joyously sung in Ilonggo as “Maghilinugyaw ang tanan!”

University President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy shared the joyous occasion with a heartfelt message, drawing inspiration from the Bible verse John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” He emphasized the significance of Jesus’ birth as the focal point of the celebration, underscoring the unconditional love of God.

The College of Theology led a devotional, with Rev. Dr. Jerson Narciso delivering a homily centered on the essential story of Mary and Joseph. He reflected on their obedience to God, highlighting the contrast with the complexities such a scenario might face in modern times.

Complementing the program, the College of Hospitality Management ensured the celebration’s success by providing essential needs and serving delectable foods. Complimentary pouches of Bibingka (Buko Cakes) added a delightful touch outside the Gym.

Engaging competitions between departments and offices added an element of friendly rivalry, with prizes enhancing the festive atmosphere. A highlight of the evening was the raffle of numbered meal stubs during dinner, rewarding many faculty and staff with gift items, tickets for two to a free stay at Richmonde Hotel de Luxe rooms, and ample cash prizes.

The celebration culminated with a closing prayer led by Rev. Samuel Escobin. Special thanks were extended to the College of Hospitality Management and the College of Theology for their invaluable contributions to the success of the Faculty and Staff Christmas Party 2023. Gratitude was also expressed to the Office of the President, Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, the Vice Presidents, Deans, and Chairs for their support in making the event a memorable and joyous occasion.
