CPU faculty and staff from various departments join the lively Zumba session as Sneakers Wednesday returns to promote wellness and camaraderie.

In a lively return to physical wellness activities, Central Philippine University (CPU) faculty and staff gathered for a Zumba session at the Junior High School Gym on April 30, marking the revival of the Sneakers Wednesday initiative spearheaded by the Human Resources Department Office (HRDO).

The program began with the acknowledgment of attendees by Ma’am Ella Kathrina A. Gutierrez, HRD Career Development Officer, followed by an opening prayer led by Rev. Cris Amorsolo V. Sian, Senior Pastor of the University Church. Dr. Florence P. Bogacia, Vice President for Finance and Enterprises, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of physical health and the holistic benefits of wellness initiatives in the workplace.

“Through this activity, we are looking forward that we can reduce [the risk of physical ailments], that we can minimize it, so we become fit,” Dr. Bogacia said. She also highlighted the broader purpose behind the event, saying, “[This Zumba activity] is for our good, for the good of our families, and ultimately, for the good of the university.”

The energetic Zumba session was led by Ms. Ada Santiago, Lifestyle Training Assistant from the Lifestyle Learning Center Fitness Gym. Faculty and staff from various departments and offices joined in the fitness routine, moving in rhythm to upbeat music and creating a vibrant atmosphere of camaraderie and wellness.

The program concluded with a closing prayer by Pastor Alfred C. Morales.

As the first Sneakers Wednesday since the pandemic, the event marks CPU’s renewed commitment to promoting a healthy and active lifestyle among its employees, reinforcing the university’s vision of a balanced and thriving community.
