CPU ECE Team representatives bring home the championship in the IECEP Iloilo-Western Visayas Math Olympiad 2025.
On September 10, 2025, the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines Iloilo – Western Visayas Student Chapter (IECEP Iloilo-WVSC) hosted the Math Olympiad at the Student Services Building of Iloilo Science and Technology University.
The event gathered student representatives from various universities across the region to demonstrate their skills in mathematical analysis and problem-solving. Participants faced a series of challenging mathematical questions designed to test their speed, accuracy, and logical reasoning.
CPU Electronics Engineering (ECE) team was represented by Karhl Girus Paguntalan, ECE-2 (team captain), Mikhael Corluz Capapas, ECE-1, Mark Dennis Dezosa, ECE-2, and Laurence Gabriele Avelino, ECE-2, who displayed excellent teamwork and determination throughout the rounds. Their ability to remain composed under pressure and solve problems efficiently distinguished them from other teams.
The team was mentored by Engr. Yeseil Sacramento (ECE Department Head) and faculty members namely Engr. Marian Mie Alimo-ot, Engr. Gelvie Lagos, and Engr. Juicy Valdueza.
The whole community at Central Philippine University was proud of this triumph, not just the student participants. It displays how committed the school is to help its students develop their analytical skills, resilience, and integrity. Inspiring future students to strive for greatness and maintain the values of their alma mater, the CPU ECE Department and its student organization, Junior Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (JIECEP), success in this regional competition is a testament to the level of education and preparation offered by the college and the university.
