CPU ECE Team proudly celebrates victory as 8-peat champion of the IECEP Iloilo – Western Visayas Interscholastic Quiz Show 2025.

On September 10, 2025, the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines Iloilo -Western Visayas Student Chapter (IECEP Iloilo- WVSC) hosted the Interscholastic Quiz Show at the Student Services Building of Iloilo Science and Technology University.

The competition served as one of the highlights of the program, bringing together outstanding student representatives from different universities to showcase their knowledge in electronics engineering, communications engineering, mathematics, general engineering, and applied sciences. Excitement filled the venue as teams prepared to engage in an intellectual battle of wits and skills, cheered on by their supporters.

CPU Electronics Engineering (ECE) team was represented by fourth year ECE students namely Clarence Von Alarde as the team captain, with the members Richylle Delante, Gea Gaje, Janil Christian Amorin, Maverick Rico, and Rowell Emerson Celebria, who demonstrated confidence, discipline, and unity from the very first round. Each member contributed their unique strengths—whether in technical concepts, quick recall of facts, or logical reasoning—making the team a well-rounded force in the competition. Their ability to remain calm under pressure, combined with their precise coordination, allowed them to consistently deliver correct answers even in the most challenging phases of the contest.

The quiz proper ran for almost two hours, with questions increasing in difficulty as the rounds progressed. Despite the intensity of the challenge, the CPU team maintained their momentum and steadily accumulated points, leaving no doubt about their dominance. Their exceptional performance secured them the championship title, continuing a tradition of excellence that has become synonymous with CPU ECE and its student organization, Junior Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (JIECEP).

This triumph was especially remarkable as it marked an 8-peat victory for CPU in the Interscholastic Quiz Show—an extraordinary milestone that cements the organization’s legacy as a consistent champion in the field. Such an achievement is a testament not only to the brilliance and dedication of the student representatives but also to the strong mentorship of their faculty, the support of their peers, and the unwavering encouragement of the CPU community. The team was mentored by the engineering faculty led by Engr. Yeseil Sacramento as the ECE Department Head, with its faculty members Engr. Marian Mie Alimo-ot, Engr. Gelvie Lagos, Engr. Babylou Nava, Engr. Juicy Valdueza, Dr. Ramon Alguidano Jr., Engr. Arvin Perucho and Engr. John Marvin Malones from the Chemical Engineering Department.

Beyond the medals and recognition, this victory symbolizes CPU’s commitment to academic excellence, teamwork, and leadership in regional competitions. It serves as an inspiration for future generations of CPU students to uphold the same values of determination, discipline, and intellectual excellence that have made this 8-peat victory possible.
