Onsite attendees during the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universities Visayas Zonal Convention held on September 7, 2024, at Southland College.

From September 5-7, 2024, a delegation from Central Philippine University (CPU), led by Prof. Janet P. Jaco, Principal of CPU Elementary School, undertook transformative initiatives to the member schools of the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universities (ACSCU) in Kabankalan. The three-day event was marked by a series of impactful activities, including donations, seminar, and a zonal convention.

The event commenced with the delivery and installation of 20 computers at Fortress College. Additionally, 7 computers were donated to the Fundamental Baptist Christian School-Hinigaran (3 units), Fellowship Baptist School-Binalbagan (2 units), and Temple Christian Academy-Kabankalan (2 units). Mr. Junabel Abelarde, CPUES Computer Lab Coordinator, supervised the installation of these donated units.

On the second day, the delegation conducted a seminar-workshop focused on adopting library programs and mentoring in documentation for Fortress College and other small ACSCU members in Kabankalan. The session covered advanced computer programming, digital literacy, and innovative documentation strategies. Prof. Rhea Joy Fernandez, CPUES Librarian, presented on the library program, while Mrs. Novi Pascua, Internal Quality Auditor, delivered a lecture on documentation control.


Representatives from Fellowship Baptist School-Binalbagan celebrate the donation of two new computers and educational books from Central Philippine University.

The highlight of the event was the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges, and Universities Visayas Zonal Convention held on September 7, 2024, at Southland College. The convention attracted 98 on-site and 56 online participants. Under the theme “Empowering Educators for Excellence: Navigating Curriculum, Championing 21st Century Skills, and Ensuring Assessment Integrity,” the program offered hands-on training and valuable insights aimed at enhancing participants’ knowledge and skills.

The convention featured keynote speeches, informative sessions, and practical workshops. Session 1, “Navigating the New Matatag Curriculum: Insights and Practices,” was presented by Prof. Janet Paguntalan-Jaco, Vice President of ACSCU Visayas. Session 2, “LAUDE Teachers: Empowering 21st Century Learners for a Transformative Tomorrow,” was led by Dr. Margen Arandela-Java, Faculty of Central Philippine University. In Session 3, “Building Reliable and Valid Assessments: Mastering the Principles of Test Construction,” Prof. Janet Paguntalan-Jaco provided an in-depth exploration, inviting teachers to bring their sample test questions and laptops during the said session. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many praising CPU’s initiative for its significant impact on their professional development and their schools.

The institution’s commitment to supporting educational advancement underscores its ongoing dedication to enhancing learning experiences for both students and educators.
