CPU President Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy delivered a thought-provoking lecture on conflict resolution.

Central Philippine University (CPU) College of Theology honored the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Genaro “TOTIK” Diesto, Jr. with a memorial lecture last August 5, 2024, at the Celis-Ancheta Chapel.

The program began with an invocation led by Rev. Adiel G. Caspe, followed by warm welcome remarks from Rev. Dr. Bernabe C. Pagara, Dean of the College of Theology, and Dr. Evangelica Diesto Paderilla, representing the Diesto family. Dr. Paderilla emphasized the significance of preserving Rev. Dr. Diesto’s legacy as an inspiration for future generations.

Dean Pagara encouraged attendees to learn from Rev. Dr. Diesto’s life, which was dedicated to glorifying God. Meanwhile, Dr. Padernilla shared the meaning of the name “Totik” and expressed hope that the lecture would inspire attendees to put their learnings into action.

A poignant biography of Rev. Dr. Diesto was presented by Prof. Rea Angelica F. Villeza, highlighting his academic achievements and his unwavering commitment to his faith and country. Despite facing challenges during Martial Law, his experiences strengthened his dedication to serving the Lord.

A highlight of the event was a lecture by CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy on “Conflict Resolution.” Dr. Dagohoy emphasized the significance of self-understanding and empathy in improving social interactions. He also centered his lecture on the Bible and the specific verses that talk about how to handle conflicts.

The memorial concluded with a musical number, an open forum, and a closing prayer by Rev. Cris Amorsolo V. Sian.

As a token of appreciation, the Diesto family gifted each attendee an umbrella at the end of the program.
