The CPU-Review, Continuing Education, and Consultancy Center (RCECC), in partnership with the CPU Pollution Control Office, successfully conducted the Waste Analysis and Characterization Study (WACS) on October 28-30, 2025.
The three-day activity was held across multiple venues, including the SHS Building, Audio-Visual Room (AVR), and JHS Gymnasium. The initiative aimed to strengthen the University’s waste management efforts and promote a culture of environmental awareness within the campus community. It featured comprehensive discussions, hands-on waste segregation, data analysis, and collaborative planning sessions designed to help participants understand and apply proper waste characterization processes.
Facilitating the sessions were Ms. Antonette U. Donato and Ms. Verna Myrtel Ponce de Leon, who guided participants through the modules and practical exercises. Valuable insights were also shared by Engr. Remgie Tiangson, Pollution Control Officer; Ms. Raisheine Joyce D. Arcillas of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST); and Dr. Lenny Rose P. Mucho, Director of RCECC.
“Through this initiative, CPU reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship, sustainability, and responsible waste management, empowering participants to promote greener practices within the University and beyond,” said Pinky Lutero-Tongol, Secretary of the Review, Continuing Education, and Consultancy Center (RCECC).
CPU continues to uphold its dedication to advancing sustainability and environmental protection through education, research, and community engagement, aligning with its mission to develop responsible and proactive leaders committed to creating a cleaner and greener future.
