The Central Philippine University (CPU) College of Law held a series of community lectures at the Session Hall of Barangay Bo. Obrero, La Paz, Iloilo City on September 16, 2025.

The event was led by Atty. Liza Lyn S. Lamasan-Garcia, CPU-COL Assistant Dean and CLEP Director, along with several Law Student Practitioners, and CLEP Secretary Ms. Melody Herminanda.

The program opened with a prayer and welcome remarks delivered by Atty. Lamasan-Garcia. In her message, she welcomed the participants and expressed appreciation for the presence of barangay officials and residents of Barangay Bo. Obrero, La Paz and Barangay Balabago, Jaro who took part in the activity.

The sessions were spearheaded by the CPU College of Law Student Practitioners. The first session focused on the Safe Spaces Act (Republic Act No. 11313) and media etiquette, led by Karren Jay G. Asgar, Dorothy Belle P. Vitug, and Mayrielle D. Pamatian. This was followed by a lecture on the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2024 (Republic Act No. 9262), presented by John Denver P. Alayon and Therese Mae A. Amistas. In the third session, Ismael P. Gandarosa discussed the topic of warrantless arrest.

The program concluded with closing remarks from Hon. James D. Conlu and Hon. Antonio L. Jacoba Jr., followed by the distribution of certificates and a group photo session.

The activity is part of the CPU-College of Law’s continuing efforts to extend legal knowledge and awareness to local communities.
