Students and Faculty Unite for Internship Success – The College of Business and Accountancy Internship Orientation culminates with a memorable group photo, symbolizing the preparation and dedication to student success.
On December 2, 2024, the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) at Central Philippine University (CPU) held an Internship Orientation for second-semester interns at the Conference Room of the Educational Media Center. The event aimed to prepare students from various programs—Bachelor of Science in Management Accounting, Business Administration (with majors in Business Management, Financial Management, and Marketing Management), and Advertising—for their six-unit internship program, a crucial requirement in their final semester before graduation.
The morning session began with an opening prayer led by Dr. Hermely A. Jalando-on, CBA Faculty, followed by the singing of the National Anthem and the University Hymn, facilitated by Prof. Lode Joy E. Bade, CBA Faculty. Dr. Lorna T. Grande, Dean of the College of Business and Accountancy, delivered the welcome remarks, providing an overview of the Internship Program and emphasizing its role in bridging academic knowledge with real-world applications.
Two key sessions followed. Dr. Rodalyn B. Daylo, CBA Faculty, discussed Office Etiquette, highlighting the importance of professionalism in workplace interactions. Dr. April Ann B. De la Gente, CBA Faculty, presented Telephone Etiquette, emphasizing effective communication skills in the workplace. An open forum moderated by Mr. Stephen A. Yuson, CBA Secretary, allowed students to ask questions and gain further insights into their upcoming internships.
The afternoon session featured seminars on workplace ethics and conduct. Dr. Carmen N. Hernandez, Chairperson of the Department of Business Administration, discussed Office Ethical Standards, stressing the value of integrity and accountability in professional settings. Atty. Jyle T. Perez addressed the sensitive topic of Sexual Harassment, providing practical advice on recognizing and addressing inappropriate behavior. The final seminar was delivered by Rev. Dr. Francis Niel G. Jalando-on, Director of the CPU Office of Communications, who discussed the CPU Heritage, Vision, Mission and Core Values—faith, character, justice, stewardship, and excellence—encouraging students to embody these principles throughout their internship experience.
The orientation equipped students with essential knowledge and skills to uphold professional standards in their respective workplaces. By the end of the event, participants were well-prepared to navigate the demands of their internships, ensuring they represent CPU with competence, integrity, and a commitment to excellence.
