Participants from PHINMA University of Iloilo join law student practitioners of the CPU COL Legal Aid Clinic during a lecture on the Safe Spaces Act and VAWC Act on March 14, 2026.
On March 14, 2026, a team of law student practitioners from the Central Philippine University College of Law Legal Aid Clinic conducted a lecture on the Safe Spaces Act and the Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Act for students of UI-PHINMA.
The activity aimed to raise awareness among students about legal protections related to gender-based violence, harassment, and safe spaces. Through the lecture, participants were introduced to key concepts and legal provisions that promote respect, protection, and accountability in educational and community settings.
The Legal Aid Clinic acknowledged the support of Amnesty International–UI Chapter and supervising lawyer Atty. Sheila Gomez in carrying out the activity. Their assistance helped facilitate the lecture and strengthen the effort to bring legal education closer to the community.
Through initiatives such as this, the College of Law continues to promote legal awareness beyond the classroom by engaging students in discussions on laws that address current social concerns.
