Mrs. Roselynn Hope F. Cabanos, Guidance Associate at Central Philippine University, is the resource speaker at a seminar-workshop for CPU law students, themed “In Defense of Mental Health,” which addresses mental health and stress management.
On September 20, 2024, the CPU College of Law hosted a seminar-workshop on mental health and stress management for law students, with the theme “In Defense of Mental Health.” Held at the Conference Room of the Henry Luce III Library, the event aligned with the nationwide celebration of Philippine National Law Week 2024.
The seminar-workshop aimed to address the rising concerns around mental health and stress management, particularly in the demanding environment of law school. Students from 1st to 4th year participated in interactive workshops designed to equip them with practical skills for managing stress.
“We are here to explore tools and strategies for managing stress, building resilience, and developing coping mechanisms that will help us survive most of the time,” said Atty. Aila Rae B. Endonila, Dean of the CPU College of Law, during her opening remarks. “This seminar is designed to empower you not only to excel academically but also to take care of your mental wellbeing across the school.”
Mrs. Roselynn Hope F. Cabanos, Guidance Associate of Central Philippine University, served as the resource speaker. She emphasized that research shows the legal profession as one of the most stressful careers. Mrs. Cabanos introduced participants to relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, and muscle relaxation, which can be easily integrated into their daily routines.
The seminar-workshop marked a significant step in promoting mental wellness and stress management within the CPU College of Law community. Given the increasing pressures faced by law students, events like these are crucial in preparing future legal professionals to be not only skilled in their craft but also mentally and emotionally resilient.
