Even when we are motivated by the efforts of others, it is common for us to feel helpless in the face of the world’s issues. We cannot stop wars or eradicate injustice on our own, but the cumulative effect of thousands of individuals performing small acts of kindness can have a greater influence than we can imagine. As you help others, you are compelled to evaluate who you are as an individual. This is a delight for us students since it educates us to have compassion for people in need and to appreciate what we already have.

A school supply distribution outreach was done at Ulayan Elementary School in Calinog, Iloilo, on February 18, 2023. This event was planned and put on by the Dr. Lucio C. Tan College of Hospitality Management Student Council, which worked with PASSC and CARESSC. In addition, they delivered classroom supplies and hygiene kits. Throughout the course of this activity, they learned a multitude of essential lessons, such as appreciating what we currently possess and expressing sympathy for others.

Before the pupils are given their school supplies, the CHMSC has organized a dance showdown for them so that they can have some fun in the meantime. The pupil, Roy, who is in the second grade, has impressed everyone with his dance ability by performing for them. As he led the group in dance, everyone’s faces were consistently adorned with a happy smile. There is a tale of struggle in their household that he uses to justify his assurance. Due to his early age, he did not have the opportunity to experience what is typically gained by kids in the second grade. Despite the fact that his family is challenged in a number of ways, the parents have taught their children to be grateful for even the most insignificant gifts. The road that lies ahead for Roy will be much more fruitful.

This also gives us the impression that the small things we do for others might have a major impact on their lives. The key idea is that regardless of whether we anticipate needing assistance at some point in our lives, we will all discover that we do. And if you are the one who is giving and helping, keep this in mind: no matter what happens in the future, you will always be secure in the knowledge that you supported those in need by remaining grateful.
