Representatives of Central Philippine University – Dr. Lucio Tan College of Hospitality Management in business pitching, tour guiding, and bartending competitions with their faculty coaches.
On February 21, 2025, the CBM Regional Business Conference 2025 became a stage for young entrepreneurs and professionals to showcase their skills, creativity, and strategic thinking. Through a series of dynamic competitions, participants demonstrated their ability to thrive in a competitive business environment, proving their innovation and expertise in various fields.
The event began with a talk by Daniel S. Agan, a Trade Industry Development Specialist from the Department of Trade and Industry, Region VI, as he shares his insights on youth entrepreneurship. Followed by the Business Pitching Competition, where three teams—representing West Visayas State University (WVSU) Calinog Campus and Central Philippine University (CPU)—presented their groundbreaking business ideas. After an intense round of pitches, the CPU-College of Hospitality Management (CPU-CHM) team secured the 2nd Runner-Up, earning recognition for their innovative product and entrepreneurial skills
Before the Tour Guiding Competition began, the event continued with the second speaker, Jennylind Cordero, Chief Tourism Operations Officer for Regulation at the Department of Tourism, Region VI, who shared updates on the ongoing enhancements in Western Visayas and other key initiatives of the department.
The second event, the Tour Guiding Competition, highlighted the participants’ expertise in storytelling, public speaking, and cultural knowledge. Representatives from various colleges took audiences on an immersive journey through Region VI, covering notable destinations in Capiz, Antique, Iloilo, and Aklan. Each pair of contestants demonstrated in-depth knowledge of history, heritage, and local culture, enhancing their presentations with compelling narratives and trivia that transported the audience to the heart of these scenic locations. Their ability to blend storytelling with hospitality skills showcased the vital role of tour guides in enriching travel experiences.
Before the Talking Bartending Competition began, the final speaker, Ransom Lubasan, a Food and Beverage Manager of Richmonde Hotel, shared insights on the artistry of mixology and the essential skills needed in the bartending industry. The competition then tested participants’ flair, communication skills, and cocktail mastery, as they crafted signature drinks and delivered engaging presentations that captivated both judges and the audience. After an exciting showdown of talent and technique, the CPU-CHM team secured the championship title.
The CBM Regional Business Conference 2025 successfully provided a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs, tourism professionals, and hospitality experts to showcase their abilities. With creativity, knowledge, and determination, the event reinforced the importance of innovation, leadership, and professional excellence in shaping the future of business and hospitality.
As the conference concluded, participants left not only with awards and recognition but also with inspiration and valuable experience that will fuel their journey toward success.
