Delegates from CPU–CHM strengthen cultural awareness and global competitiveness through their visit to Seoul, South Korea.
Twelve faculty and staff members, together with industry partners of the Central Philippine University (CPU) College of Hospitality Management (CHM), participated in the Annual Global Immersion Program held in Seoul, South Korea, from December 12–17, 2025.
The international exposure aimed to enhance the professional competencies, cultural awareness, and global competitiveness of CHM educators and partners in the hospitality and tourism industry. Through the program, participants gained firsthand experience of international hospitality standards, practices, and workplace culture, reinforcing CHM’s commitment to quality education aligned with global industry demands.
As part of the immersion, the delegation visited Dong Seoul University, where they conducted a facilities tour and engaged in exploratory discussions on academic practices and potential collaborations. This visit provided valuable insights into international hospitality education systems and strengthened CHM’s internationalization efforts.
The group also met with CPU–CHM alumni based in Seoul, fostering continued alumni engagement and professional networking abroad. In addition, participants explored various cultural sites and experienced authentic Korean street food and traditional dishes, deepening their appreciation of Korean culture and hospitality traditions.
According to CHM Travel and SIAP Coordinator Asst. Prof. Ismael Almajar Jr., the Annual Global Immersion Program is a strategic academic initiative that supports the college’s mission to deliver globally responsive hospitality education. The insights gained from this exposure are expected to contribute to curriculum enhancement, stronger international linkages, and expanded opportunities for collaboration, faculty exchange, and internships overseas.
In the long term, the program is envisioned to help CHM produce globally competitive graduates equipped with strong professional skills, cultural sensitivity, and adaptability. This initiative further positions the CPU College of Hospitality Management as an institution committed to academic excellence, international recognition, and sustainable growth in hospitality management education.
