This year, the Parents and Teachers Association of Judith Lazarraga Tiongco Memorial Elementary School is the recipient of the Year 3 CPU-Kahilwayan Women and Development Program.
On March 6, 2026 (Friday), the Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center (CESLC), in partnership with the Gender and Development (GAD) Office, Review, Continuing Education and Consultancy Center (RCEC), and the Office of Institutional Advancement, conducted the CPU-Kahilwayan Women and Development Program. The outreach office designed the program to address various social dilemmas faced by women.
This year, the program’s recipients are 32 women faculty members and selected women parents from the Parents and Teachers Association of Judith Lazarraga Tiongco Memorial Elementary School, located in Brgy. Tabuc Suba, Jaro, Iloilo City.
The resource speaker was Ms. Lenore Ravena-Enriquez, a social worker and focal person for Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC) and Solo Parent concerns at the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO). During her talk, Ms. Ravena-Enriquez highlighted some of the major challenges faced by women today and identified government agencies where women can seek assistance.
She also introduced several government programs and services related to women, such as the Conditional Cash Transfer Program, Walang Gutom Program, Protecteen Program, and Pag-abot Program, among others. These programs and services can be accessed through the nearest City Social Welfare and Development Office. In addition, she discussed several laws intended to protect women and children.
Aside from this activity, the women members of the association will also receive seminars and training on women’s mental health and financial literacy. This year’s theme of the CPU-Kahilwayan Women and Development Program is “Pagbibigay-Kapangyarihan sa Kababaihan sa Pamamagitan ng Pagpapalakas ng Pamayanan.”
Previously, the CPU Women and Development Program benefited the Ati women in the Ati Community in Brgy. Lanit, Jaro, Iloilo City, as well as the women seamstresses of the CPU-Arukahik Tailoring Shop and Training Center. This activity was also organized as part of the celebration of Women’s Month.
