One of the University’s highlights in December is the 95th Foundation Week celebration of the College of Arts and Sciences. A nightly virtual presentation from each Department (Social Science, Life Science, Math and Physics Department, Chemistry, Department of Languages, Mass Communications and Humanities and Social Work) will be shown online from December 16 to 23, 2020.

The theme: “Pag balikid sa Nagligad, Ululupod sa Pag –unlad”reflects the achievements the College enjoy through the years – with the admirable struggle and determination of its faculty and staff. The College is currently headed by Dean Stella G. Fernandez.

The College of Arts and Sciences began as a Junior College in 1927. The programs for the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science started in 1940.

After the war, the Board of Trustees decided to expand the offerings of the College and changed its name to the College of Arts and Sciences. Professor Rex D. Drilon was appointed Dean. He served until 1947 when he left for further studies in the US. Later, on June 1, 1966, Dr. Drilon was installed as the first Filipino President.

The general education program of the College was accredited by the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities-Accrediting Council, Inc. (ACSCU-ACI) in 1978. In 1987, all the academic programs of the College of Arts and Sciences have enjoyed Level III accreditation status and since then the College has maintained its accreditation status.
