Selected BSED Science students listened to a lecture by one of the SEAFDEC researchers.
On June 27, 2025, the second-year Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) Science students of Central Philippine University visited the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC) in Tigbauan, Iloilo. The educational trip, conducted under their Education in Science (EdSci) course, was led by Prof. Sarex Dalida Dipol Jr. and Dr. Regina E. Samillano.
The students explored various aquatic life forms and learned about the role of aquaculture in sustaining marine biodiversity, food security, and ecological balance. They also learned about fossils of aquatic life forms, gaining a deeper appreciation for the importance of conservation and environmental responsibility.
This educational trip shed light on how real-life exposure enhances the understanding of classroom concepts. It helped the students realize that hands-on experiences and field visits are effective tools in deepening learning and making lessons more meaningful and memorable.
As future facilitators of learning, the experience reminded them of the value of immersion in science education. This trip will not only benefit them now as students but also in the future as educators who aim to teach and deliver quality education grounded in both knowledge and experience.
