A third-year Bachelor of Science in Psychology student from Central Philippine University (CPU), Diane Lois I. Senegocio, recently completed the prestigious MarkProf Bootcamp, a competitive marketing leadership program in the Philippines that gathers aspiring young marketers from across the country. Senegocio successfully qualified for the program’s Top 25 finalists and eventually graduated as one of the top members of the batch after completing the intensive nine-week training.

MarkProf Bootcamp is known as one of the most rigorous and respected marketing training programs in the country, designed to develop future marketing leaders through real industry exposure and mentorship. The program partners with major brands and organizations such as MEGA, Nestlé, Unilever, Unilab, L’Oréal, Maya, Mondelez, Condura, McDonald’s, Colgate-Palmolive, Katapult Digital, and Belo. Participants were given the opportunity to visit the headquarters of these companies and learn directly from industry professionals about branding, marketing strategies, and leadership in the field.

The selection process for the bootcamp is highly competitive. Applicants must first submit an application form and curriculum vitae; thereafter, the screening team selects the top 100 candidates from thousands of applicants nationwide. These candidates then undergo a rigorous one-day online screening process, in which only the top 25 participants are chosen to join the official nine-week bootcamp program.

Senegocio shared that she initially knew very little about the program and was only encouraged to apply by a friend. Since the bootcamp was an all-expenses-paid opportunity, she decided to take the chance and submit an application. At first, she admitted that she did not expect to qualify because of the competitive selection process and her limited knowledge about marketing at the time.

“I actually didn’t expect to get in,” she shared. “The ratio was from 100 applicants down to only 25 participants, and I didn’t feel like I had enough knowledge about marketing yet.”

However, after unexpectedly qualifying for the Top 25, Senegocio began a demanding training process. From November to February, participants were flown to Manila almost every week to attend training sessions and workshops every Saturday before returning home on Sundays.

Although the schedule was physically and mentally exhausting, she described the experience as one of the most life-changing opportunities she had ever had.

“The journey wasn’t perfect,” she admitted. “There were moments when I felt lost in the beginning and even struggled during the early stages of the program. But eventually I was able to lock in, improve, and grow throughout the experience.”

Despite these challenges, Senegocio finished the program as one of the top graduates of the batch. She described the experience as a mix of fulfillment, pride, and newfound curiosity about the field of marketing.

“I started the bootcamp from the lowest ranks and worked my way up to graduate as one of the top members of the batch,” she said. “It made me realize how much determination and persistence can really shape your growth.”

As a psychology student, Senegocio also shared that completing the bootcamp expanded her perspective on potential career paths beyond her academic field. She believes that the program opened doors for new opportunities and helped her discover new interests in marketing leadership.

In addition, her achievements marked a significant milestone for Central Philippine University. According to Senegocio, this is the first time that a CPU student has successfully qualified for the Top 25 of the MarkProf Bootcamp and completed the program.

“I am proud to represent CPU and put Centralian excellence on the MarkProf map,” she said. “Hopefully we’ll see more Centralian students joining the program in the future.”

Senegocio’s accomplishment stands as a testament to determination, perseverance, and courage to pursue opportunities beyond one’s comfort zone. The Centralian community extends its congratulations to Senegocio for bringing pride to the university and representing CPU in a prestigious national program.
