Mrs. Josette G. Jalando-on is a member of the CPU Board of Trustees.
On the last year of her second term as member of the Board of Trustees, Josette Gico-Jalando-on is looking forward to having more Campus Ministry Pastors in the university.
“This way, more students, faculty members, and staff could be reached by the Good News of Salvation,” she said.
A native of La Carlota City, Jalando-on was first elected to serve the BOT from 2012 to 2017 and was elected again for another five years, from 2019 to 2024.
Representing the Convention of Philippine Baptist Churches, Inc. she was appointed as Chairperson of the Religious Affairs Committee.
She recalls that her first term “was a great challenge” as she was a newcomer. “It was during this term that the merger and unification of the Chaplain’s Office and the University Church was realized,” she said.
Prior to her BOT stints, Jalando-on served as President of the Convention Baptist Bible College in Bacolod City (2005-2009).
The BOT member was enrolled in the double-degree program of Bachelor in Education – Bachelor in Theology, but the offering was discontinued. She graduated in 1971 (major in Physical Education and Minor in English).
She was a livewire in campus activities during her CPU college days. She was elected Governor of the College of Education after she served as vice governor and also as representative and was a member of the CPU Gospel Team. Representing the College of Education, she was also named Miss U-Day in 1970.
Her husband, Mr. Roberto R. Jalando-on, Jr. is also a former member of the CPU Board of Trustees and a graduate of the CPU College of Agriculture. Their children are all Centralians.
