University President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy and USTP Vice President Dr. Lory Liza D. Bulay-og formally sign the Memorandum of Understanding, marking a significant milestone in academic collaboration between CPU and USTP.

Central Philippine University (CPU) and the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) have officially strengthened their academic collaboration through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) held on November 26, 2025, at the Henry Luce III Library Conference Room.

The ceremony gathered university officials from both institutions to affirm their shared commitment to advancing research, academic exchange, and innovative learning programs.

The program opened with a prayer led by Dr. Eden P. Gomez of the CPU College of Education, setting a reflective tone for the event. This was followed by the reading of the rationale delivered by Dr. Merle L. Junsay, Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs, who highlighted the promising opportunities arising from the partnership discussions.

According to Dr. Junsay, both universities identified several key areas for collaboration, including joint research initiatives, faculty and student engagement, student mobility, and exchange programs. She also emphasized potential resource-sharing efforts such as the use of facilities, expertise, and faculty exchange—CPU faculty may be invited to teach at USTP, while USTP specialists may also share their expertise at CPU. Furthermore, she noted the possibility of working together on non-conventional and lifelong learning programs, including micro-credentialing, and transnational programs.

CPU President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy delivered the welcome message, expressing optimism for the collaboration and recognizing the importance of academic partnerships in driving innovation, strengthening competencies, and expanding the university’s global engagement.

The official signing of the MOU was led by University President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy for CPU and Dr. Lory Liza D. Bulay-og, Vice President for Global Engagement and Quality Assurance, representing USTP. The signing symbolized the mutual commitment of both universities to pursue collaborative initiatives and shared goals.
