On November 18, 2025, Central Philippine University (CPU), in partnership with the University Church, launched its relief operations at the La Carlota Evangelical Church in La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, to assist families affected by the devastation brought by Typhoon Tino. The initiative aimed to extend compassion and provide essential support to communities severely impacted by intense flooding across several barangays.
Prior to the distribution, CPU announced its relief efforts through its official social media platforms on November 7, calling on the Centralian community to contribute clothing and cash donations. Supporters were advised to segregate clothing by category—men, women, and children—and bring them to the Student Center at the University Church. Cash donations were received by Rev. Dr. Cris Amorsolo V. Sian, Senior Pastor of the University Church, and Dr. Florence P. Bogacia, Vice President for Finance and Enterprises, with official receipts issued for every contribution.
Celebrating a successful relief operation, the CPU and University Church team, led by University President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, gather for a group photo at La Carlota Evangelical Church, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, following their efforts to assist families affected by Typhoon Tino.
Families affected by Typhoon Tino enjoy selecting free clothing donations from CPU and the University Church on the ground floor of La Carlota Evangelical Church.
The program at La Carlota Evangelical Church began with an opening prayer led by Rev. Dr. Francis Neil G. Jalando-on, Director of the CPU Office of Communications. This was followed by words of welcome from Rev. U. Ferrancullo and Engr. Elixis Divinagracia, Church Council Member of LCEC. A message of hope and encouragement was then delivered by CPU University President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, inspiring both donors and beneficiaries to continue fostering a spirit of solidarity.
The highlight of the program was the distribution of cash assistance, relief goods, and clothing to affected families. Recipients received their cash assistance on the second floor of the church, after which they proceeded to the ground floor to claim the relief goods and clothing donations. Families from various barangays in La Carlota City benefited from the timely intervention, exemplifying CPU’s commitment to serving communities in times of need.
Through this collaborative effort, CPU and the University Church reaffirmed their dedication to uplifting lives and providing support to those impacted by natural calamities—ensuring that hope, compassion, and relief reach those who need them most.
