Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, University President, and Dr. George O. Cortel, President of Filamer Christian University, lead the distribution of relief goods to families affected by Typhoon Ramil at the Capiz Evangelical Church in Roxas City, Capiz.
Central Philippine University (CPU), in partnership with the University Church, launched its relief operations on October 23, 2025, at the Capiz Evangelical Church in Roxas City, Capiz, to aid communities affected by Typhoon Ramil. The initiative aimed to extend compassion and support to families severely impacted by the intense flooding that struck the province on October 18, 2025.
In the days leading up to the relief mission, the Centralian community united to donate for the relief operations. On October 20, CPU announced the launch of its relief efforts for affected families in Roxas City, Capiz. The University encouraged donations of clothing and beddings, which were received at the Alumni Promenade Concert Park (stage) and the Student Center (ground floor of the University Church). The CPU team then prepared to travel to the affected area on Thursday, October 23, to personally deliver the collected goods and assistance.
The relief operations began with a short program where Dr. George O. Cortel, President of Filamer Christian University, welcomed the CPU team and volunteers and introduced University President Rev. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy. In his message, Rev. Dr. Dagohoy offered words of encouragement and hope, emphasizing unity and faith amid adversity.

“Today, we come not only to bring assistance but also to stand with our brothers and sisters in faith and resilience. May this gesture remind us that compassion knows no boundaries, especially in times of hardship,” said Rev. Dr. Dagohoy.
Following his message, a prayer led by Rev. Cris Amorsolo V. Sian, Senior Pastor of the University Church, set a solemn and heartfelt tone as the congregation and volunteers came together in service.
The highlight of the day was the distribution of relief goods, where Dr. Cortel joined Rev. Dr. Dagohoy and CPU volunteers in handing out essential supplies to families at the Capiz Evangelical Church. The relief packages, which benefited more than 200 affected families, included rice, hygiene kits, beddings, canned goods, and clothing. Additionally, a dedicated area at the back of the church was set up where affected residents could freely select from the available clothing donations.
