Central Philippine University (CPU) is awarded by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) the prestigious Excellence in Quality Assurance in Teacher Education (EQUATE) Award in a ceremony held at Manila Hotel, April 2.
CHED gave this Award for the first time to only 120 out of 1553 Teacher Education Institutions (TEIs) to celebrate their exceptional contributions in producing highly competent and effective educators, reinforcing the commitment to quality pre-service teacher education in the Philippines.
“The recipients of these recognitions are given priority access to the application process for development grants, enabling the institutions not only to make the best better but to make the best better together and for all,” said Dr. Edizon Fermin, Chairperson of the Technical Panel for Teacher Education of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).
CPU earned this commendation for its adherence to CHED’s quality standards, strong program accreditation, and outstanding performance in the Board of Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (BLEPT). This achievement underscores the University’s dedication to developing top-tier educators who are well-equipped to shape the future of education in the country.

Dagohoy. With him during the ceremony were Dr. Esther Rose A. Romarate, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dr. Merle L. Junsay, Dean of the College of Education.
The recognition aligns with the global commitment of the University to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which advocates for inclusive, equitable, and quality education. As CPU continues to advance in teacher education, the University remains dedicated to fostering a learning environment that empowers future educators and elevates the standard of education in the country.
With this prestigious accolade, CPU reaffirms its dedication to enhancing its teacher education programs, ensuring that its graduates excel in licensure examinations and contribute significantly to the field of education.
