CPU College of Business and Accountancy administrators, faculty, students, and alumni proudly proudly take on key leadership roles in PICPA Iloilo, ACPAE Iloilo, and IFJPIA, highlighting CPU’s continued impact and excellence in the Accountancy profession.

Central Philippine University continues to make its mark in the Accountancy profession as administrators, faculty members and students from the Accountancy Department obtain key officer ship positions in three major accounting organizations in Iloilo: the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Iloilo Chapter, the Association of Certified Public Accountants in Education (ACPAE) Iloilo Chapter, and the Iloilo Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (IFJPIA) for Fiscal Year 2025-2026.

The Dean of the College of Business and Accountancy, Dr. Lorna T. Grande, who previously held the position of ACPAE Iloilo President in last academic year 2024-2025, now holds the position of ex-officio, while Dr. Christine B. Golilao, the Chairperson of the Accountancy Department, was elected Auditor, and Prof. Charis Emmelynn M. Bautista was elected as a member of the Board of Directors of ACPAE Iloilo, reflecting their commitment to excellence in the practice of Accountancy in instruction and education.

Further, Dr. Golilao, and Prof. Bautista, along with Accountancy Department parttime faculty member Prof. Patrocinio G. Pudadera Jr., alumni Ms. May Joyce G. Galanto (BS Accountancy 2007) and Ms. Michelle June T. Baldeviso (BS Accountancy 2014) have been elected and hold leadership positions in the PICPA Iloilo Chapter for Fiscal Year 2025-2026. Alumnus Mr. Maryan G. Farinas (BS Accountancy 2011) was elected as the PICPA Capiz Chapter President, and a member of the Western Visayas Regional Council.

Dr. Golilao serves PICPA Iloilo as Director for Education, a role that bridges the gap between academia and the professional world. Concurrently, she serves as the PICPA Iloilo Chapter Committee Chairperson on Student Participation, and the Co-Chair of the Awards Committee. Prof. Pudadera takes on the role of Vice President for Membership, focusing on strengthening the chapter’s member base and engagement. Additionally, Prof. Pudadera also takes on the role of Co-Chair of the PICPA Committees for Membership and the Accountancy Week Celebration. Prof. Bautista serves as the Chapter Public Relations Officer, tasked at increasing PICPA Iloilo’s social media reach and documenting its activities and initiatives. She also concurrently serves as the Chairperson for the Publication, Social Media Relations, and Webpage Maintenance Committee, as well as member of the PICPA National Committee for Faculty Development and Research. Ms. Galanto serves the Chapter as Assistant Treasurer, and Co-Chair of the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee. Ms. Baldeviso serves as PICPA Iloilo Chapter Director for Commerce and Industry.

CPU’s BS Accountancy student leaders are also making waves in the Iloilo Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (IFJPIA), representing the next generation of accounting professionals: Abegail Mandar (BS Accountancy 3) was elected Vice President for Socio-Civic, leading community engagement and outreach programs.
Krizza Clarisse Sapio (BS Accountancy 3) serves as Vice President for Membership, promoting inclusivity and active participation among student members.

In an Induction and Turnover Ceremonies program held last Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel, the officers of the PICPA Iloilo Chapter and ACPAE Iloilo Chapter were sworn into position by PICPA National President and retired SGV & Co. Assurance Partner Gerard B. Sanvictores. The Committee Chairs, Co-Chairs, and Members were sworn in by PICPA Executive Vice President Dionisio M. Villeta, while the IFJPIA officers were sworn into their positions by PICPA Western Visayas Senior Regional Director and Dean of the WVSU College of Law Atty. Pauline Grace T. Buñol-Alfuente.

PICPA National President Gerard B. Sanvictores and National Office Executive Director and retired Price Waterhouse Coopers Assurance Partner Geraldine H. Apostol gave messages of support to the PICPAns and IFJPIA officers present, and expounded on the PICPA’s theme for the year, “Action with I.M.P.A.C.T.” (Integrity, Merit, Professionalism, Accountability, Competence, and Teamwork). During the Turnover Ceremonies, Dr. Golilao, Prof. Pudadera, Prof. Bautista, Ms. Galanto, and Mrs. Aileen Roldan-Gadong (BS Accountancy 2009) were each given a Presidential Award by Prof. Benmar B. Panaguiton, PICPA Iloilo President for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 for their exceptional contributions to the Chapter and the Accountancy profession for the previous Fiscal Year. Mrs. Gadong served as the PICPA Iloilo Chapter Treasurer for Fiscal Year 2024-2025.

The leadership commitments by the administrators, faculty, alumni, and students of the Accountancy Department underscore CPU’s enduring legacy of leadership, service, and excellence in the field of Accountancy, elevating the profession through active involvement in regional and national organizations. As CPU continues to nurture future CPAs and educators, these leadership posts serve as a testament to the commitment of the Accountancy Department, the College of Business and Accountancy, and University to shaping leaders who make a difference—both in the classroom and beyond.
