Computer Science students in attendance via Zoom for the Professional Track Survey.

On March 10, 2026, Computer Science sophomore students partook in their Professional Survey Track, via Zoom, to explore and evaluate future specialization careers that best suits for their own personal skills and interests.

The Survey Track, started at 8:00PM, was attended by CCS faculty and staff, along with the 2nd-yr students waiting to be oriented on the specializations they will be taking in the future. In the specializations presented to the students include Advanced Software Development, Cybersecurity, and Data Science. Each specialty was carefully introduced and explained by the faculty and guided the students to better understand and prepare for these areas of computer sciences.

Even with having the Survey late in the night, the students listened attentively to the orientation and took the survey honestly and with deep consideration. Advanced Software Development focuses on creating applications and systems, and how to secure those systems. Cybersecurity is all about protection from cyber threats and fixing compromised systems. Data Science is the collecting, analyzing, and cleaning of data in large volumes.

The sophomores were encouraged to think carefully and consider all the facets of their future specialization. Each of these paths are equally important as they hold an important role of creating safe online spaces, defending these online spaces from cyber-attacks, and developing these spaces with data feedback. With our generation becoming the future of technology and the digital age, these students hold the key to further developing not only our university, but the future of our country.
