The P.E. Department prepared a very colorful field demonstration on the evening of September 24, 2019.

The Alumni of the College of Education (ACE) celebrated its 80th Anniversary at Central Philippine University on September 24 to 25, 2019 with the theme: “COED @ 80: Journey to Excellence and Beyond.”

The two- day celebration kicked off with a Fun Run at 5:30 AM on September 24 at the CPU Football Field. The exhibits opened at 9:00 AM at the Alumni Promenade and Concert Park with historical documents like old photographs, souvenir programs, magazines other memorabilia of the CPU College of Education.

Towards the evening, the football field was full of people who waited for the field demonstration. The P.E. Department prepared a very colorful, presentation, originally coordinated with the students by Prof. Necil Magno. There was a sea of neon-lighted rings twirling in motion in the unlighted football field.

Dr. Irving L. Rio, VP for Academic Affairs in his opening remarks at the Field Demonstration, commented that physical exercise is essential to everyone. He appreciated the PE Department for preparing such activity and physical presentation.

The next day on the 25th, there was a Fellowship Lunch at the Alumni Promenade Concert Park. It was attended by COEd alumni from different places in the country and abroad. The 80th Anniversary Celebration culminated with a cultural presentation at the Rose Memorial Auditorium dubbed as “Lionsified” – A musical diversity. It featured the performances of teachers, students and alumni in the art of dancing and singing. It was opened by a remark by the President of Alumni of the College of Education (ACE), Dr. Carmen Pama-Santos. The night ended with the parade on the stage of former Deans of the College of Education like Dr. Nelson A. Pomado, Dr. Perla A. Suyo, Atty. Lorna D. Gellada, Dr. Celia P. Sumagaysay. Two former beauty queens also graced the affair – Miss College of Education in the 1970s Mrs. Josette Gico-Jalando-on and Mrs. Ging Lapastora Oñate.

Dr. Merly L. Junsay, Dean of the College of Education, thanked everyone for doing their best and supporting the programs of the University. The College of Education at 80, enumerated its outstanding achievements most especially the achievement of Level Four CHED Accreditation, and Center of Development Status Granted by CHED.
