The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VI (CHEDRO VI) has formally confirmed 16 representatives from Central Philippine University (CPU), composed of administrators, deans, and professors, as official members of the Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) following a day-long orientation, non-disclosure agreement signing, and contract signing held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Iloilo Science and Technology University.
The appointment, which will run for three years, authorizes CPU’s RQAT members to evaluate higher education institutions (HEIs) applying for Government Authority to operate tertiary programs, as well as to recommend actions for the issuance of Government Permit/Recognition and/or Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC). When invited, members may also serve as evaluators for HEIs outside Western Visayas.
The orientation gathered around 150 evaluators across Region VI, representing nearly all major universities and colleges. Sessions familiarized members with CHED’s policies, clarified ethical responsibilities, standardized evaluation tools, and reinforced practices in documentation, reporting, and feedback. The initiative, according to CHEDRO VI, aims to strengthen quality assurance processes and promote accountability and continuous improvement in higher education.
