Dr. Aries Roda D. Romallosa, Acting Vice President for Research, Extension and Development gave her opening remarks and some expected developments in extension during the CESLC Year 3 Orientation.
Last July 31, 2025, the Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center of the University conducted an orientation for outreach coordinators at various colleges, units, and departments of the University.
The orientation was comprised of discussions by the director about the outreach framework Program ERNEST (Education, Resource Utilization, Nurturance, Environment, Social Welfare, and Technology Transfer), as well as the duties and responsibilities of the outreach coordinators.
Ms. Joan S. Castor, Project ETC Coordinator, then introduced Centralino para sa Batang Pilipino Program. This initiative is one of the new outreaches intended for the provision of comprehensive school supplies to students from adopted public elementary schools. This program also intensifies the implementation of the 9Volunteer Act of 2007, officially known as Republic Act No. 9418, to which the government requires various higher education institutions in the country to integrate volunteerism in instruction, research, and extension, which the outreach office is committed to implementing this mandate.
Further, the office secretary of the outreach office, Ms. Jaren Marr P. Jaco, discussed the pre- and post-requirements of the office, and the process flow. In addition, Sir Prim C. Vergara III, CPU-Occupational Safety and Health Officer, discusses risk assessment and how to fill in the risk assessment form.
Additionally, the director of the Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center introduced some expected outreach initiatives to be established this academic year, such as the establishment of the Center for Mangroves and Marine Biodiversity Conservation, the Center for Reading Development and Diagnostic Services, and CPU-Talipapa.
Finally, the new Acting Vice President for Research, Extension and Development, Dr. Aries Roda D. Romallosa, met with the outreach coordinators, giving her opening remarks and elaborating on some developments and future innovations in extension.
