The University Outreach Day program was held at the Alumni Promenade and Concert Park.
Last December 6, 2022, the Community Engagement and Service-Learning Center partnered with Guidance Services Center for the annual Student Enhancement Activities for Life Outreach Activity. The University Outreach Day themed “Give, Serve, and Care” was held at the Alumni Promenade Concert Park.
The program started with Lupang Hinirang, the university hymn, and an opening prayer. Rev. Leysa, Youth and Family Ministry Coordinator of the University Church preached about Reason, Result, Requirement, Reward, and Response, relating these to John 3:16 and 1 John 4:7-8.
Dr. Esther Rose Romarate, VP for Student Affairs, gave her welcoming remarks. Prof. Ermitaño, Guidance Counselor of CBA and Theology, explained the program rationale.
Testimonials from two work students were heard. Jeric Caño (CPU 2019) gave tips. He shared Colossians 3:23which has helped him with his studies and duties. He wants to serve God above all.
Jeric Jornadal has been working in CPU for seven years, but lost his motivation. He was ‘burned out’. He learned to be kind to himself and expressed thanks to his parents and the work-study program.
Dr. Raquel Polec-eo, GSC Director, gave her remarks in the first part of the program, followed by a closing prayer. SEAL Outreach Committee honored the Security Department, represented by Mr. Bernasol, who thanked for the annual service recognition. CPU Red Cross and Massage trainers Pastor Cantara, LMT, RSES, and Rev. Maderse, LMT, were also recognized. Half of the students went to EMC, while the rest stayed at the Promenade, where the gift-giving continued.
In the afternoon, Ms. Ecube, Guidance Associate of Engineering and CARES gave an announcement for the batch swapping. After training, all work students gathered for a prayer. The program concluded with tokens and certificates given to resource persons.
CESL continues to support activities like SEAL of the Guidance Services Center, which provides learning experiences for students.
